It’s called Flower Power Fest Cascais (3rd, 4th and 5th August) and the name says it all:
aesthetic and musical revivalism for three days of concerts that recall the 1960s, ‘70s and ‘80s with camping, beach and sea, as well as a host of activities. There are kite workshops, traditional games, dance, yoga, handicrafts, painting and photography and international gastronomy – all at Carcavelos beach, just a few kilometres from Lisbon.
In terms of music, the classic Ten Years After are headliners. There’s also reggae from Inner Circle and Big Mountain, and the disco sound of Ottawan. Tribute groups include the Beach Boys Band; the Italians Watch, considered the perfect replica of Genesis by the band themselves; and David Brighton with the Space Oddity show, which celebrates David Bowie.
Flower Power Fest Cascais is also designed for families with children (there’s a megapark of inflatables and face painting). There’s no dress code, but why not get your bell-bottoms and miniskirts out of the wardrobe.
