Umeå Open takes live music seriously and is the largest annual arrangement conducted by the Umeå Cultural Association Humlan. The festival takes place all over Umeå on eight scenes, and during the day the festival also offers free concerts in some of Umeå's shops and cafes. The festival atmosphere vibrates throughout Umeå! On stage you will experience both internationally and locally, and everything with the same high quality. The seed of the festival was sown when Umeå was named Pop of the Year 1997 by Sweden's radio P3. Since its inception in 1998, Umeå Open has grown strong and has become a focal point for music lovers throughout Norway.
The festival is organized during the spring and triumphs as the start for the whole of Sweden's festival season. In other words, at Umeå Open you will see the artists first before continuing to their summer tours.
