Bråvalla 2018 cancelled after repeated rape and sexual assault charges

“This is not OK. We do not accept this at our festival. Therefore, we have decided not to organise Bravålla in 2018.”

These were the words used by the organization of Bravalla (FKP Scorpio) to announce their decision to axe the 2018 edition after the report of 11 sexual assaults and one rape incident at the 2017 edition that took place from the 28th June to the 1st of July. This edition was headlined by The Killers, Linkin Park, System of a Down, Prophets of Rage and The Chainsmokers and atracts around 40.000 fans every year.

The situation is more critical because its the second time in a row that the festival sufers from this serious incidents.

The organization deplore the situation saying it takes pride in encouraging visitors to report instances of sexual assault and “inviting our visitors to talk about it with us and each other”. However, it says, “some men” simply “cannot behave. It’s a shame.”

FKP Scorpio CEO Folkert Koopmans said future festivals would have more security, lighting and CCTV cameras in a bid to prevent a repeat of the events of 2017.
